Rita Ackermann opens the ICA Miami 2019 season: Chalkboards Paintings, between construction and destruction.

Great participation for the first meeting of the year of the Speaks series, organized by the ICA of Miami in Paradise Plaza. Guest of honor Rita Ackermann who donated three of her works to the museum. The contemporary artist of Bulgarian origins, class of 1968, after the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, moved to the New York Studio School in New York, the city where she currently resides.

Those by Rita Ackermann are abstract works, person who, with her extremely fragile tone of voice, presented, accompanied by her own inspired readings, an excursus of her almost 30 years of activity. The female figures in the middle between the nymphs – representation of modesty and amazement that move in dance steps – and young adolescents, burst from her works that abstract, and large, find their perfect balance on the Chalkboards Paintings, which are exhibited for the first time at the Sammlung Friedrichshof in Vienna and again in the same year at Art Unlimited during the Miami Art Week. In her Chalkboards Paintings, after the physical act of creation follows that of destruction, gestures for which the artist proceeds with extreme rigor. As if it were a blackboard, the canvas in Ackermann’s works, treated with special paint, is traced and immediately erased in a continuous repetition until the brush strokes and gestures disappear and recall to themselves the emotional part of the human intellect, oscillating between visible and invisible, to the point of merging with personal satisfaction in the artist’s accomplishment of the work.

The mission of the Rubell family is to redevelop the district of Allapattah, after the current Wynwood site with an area of ​​40,000 square meters, with the opening of a new exhibition space of 100,000 square feet by the end of the year. Mr. Ruble’s personal interest does not go beyond simple listening.
